Natural Wax Candles Ingredients

Our Candle Wax

For our candles we use a proprietary blend of coconut wax, beeswax, and soy, with no paraffin whatsoever! Coconut wax is our favorite natural wax alternative. This all natural wax is made from the meat of the coconut, and is an organic, sustainable, and renewable resource. The wax itself is odorless (it does not smell like coconuts), and a clean-burning alternative to traditional paraffin wax that doesn't release harmful toxins into the air.

Another thing we love about coconut wax: since it is a softer wax, when the candle burns it creates a warm glow throughout the body of the candle that is aesthetically unique and extra cozy!

Benefits of Beeswax

While this wax is harder to come by, it's sought out merits are well worth it! Beeswax has been scientifically proven to naturally purify the air as it burns, which makes it both a clean & healthy solution for your home. We also love that it helps our candles last longer! We have found that our candles burn slowly, cleanly, and last 2x longer than their typical store-bought counterparts.

 Wax Melt Wax Blend

For our all-natural wax melts, we use a blend of coconut wax, palm wax, and soy. Once again, no paraffin whatsoever! We have found this wax to have a stronger scent throw than pure soy wax, and they also last longer than paraffin melts as well. When melting this wax in your warmer, you don't have to worry about the toxins you find in typical paraffin wax melts. Safer around kids & pets, this wax is also dye-free, won't stain, & is easy to clean, in case of those accidental spills that sometimes happen!

Our Fragrances & Bases

When it comes to fragrance, safety and strength is key. Our candles are created using fragrance oils that are infused with essential oils & totally phthalate free. That means they burn cleanly, without you having to worry about breathing any harmful toxins being released into the air of your home. These fragrances have also been found by many to NOT cause headaches or aggravate allergies, which is typical of other fragrances containing phthalates. It's a win both ways!

Phthalate-Free, Proposition 65 Compliant

We are grateful to work with fragrance suppliers that take safety and quality as seriously as we do. Our suppliers adhere to the strictest safety standards in the manufacturing of their fragrance oils, and we make sure to select only the ones we feel are the best fit for our products. Our main suppliers state that the oils we use meet the strict safety requirements of the State of California Proposition 65.

Diffuser Base & Room Spray Base

The bases we use for our diffusers and room sprays also follow strict safety standards. Both are Proposition 65 compliant, and free of phthalates and parabens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Essentially, phthalates are man-made chemicals that are used to soften plastic and manipulate several of its different properties. They are typically used in candles to help the chemical fragrance bond with (petroleum based) paraffin wax. To read more about pthalates and how they could be harmful, read our blog post here.

Paraffin wax is a manmade petroleum by-product that is most widely used in the global candle market. It is inexpensive and easy to come by, and adheres well with chemical fragrances, which makes it an obvious choice for many companies. However, research is beginning to show that the effects of burning paraffin wax candles in your home (especially frequently, and over long periods of time) is bad for your health. To us, all of this seems questionable, in the least. That is why we decided to use a natural alternative, and the results speak for themselves!

Yes, they do. As much as we would love to have a coconut wax candle that is soy-free, unfortunately there are no blends available that do not have some small amount of soy in them. Coconut wax is naturally very soft (think coconut oil!) and it needs a stabilizer. That's why we love our blend with beeswax! However, if you are allergic to soy, we highly recommend beeswax candles as a clean-burning alternative.

We don't specifically use a straight essential oil blend for our candles. In doing our research, we found that putting undiluted essential oils into candles can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing! When an oil burns, it's properties are changed, and some essential oils can become volatile. Besides that, they don't always give off a pleasant smell when they burn, like they do on their own! It also takes a much larger amount of oil to scent a candle, which we find unsustainable.

Although essential oils are typically the most organic, clean oil available, they just aren't suited well for candles on their own, and could be dangerous if used incorrectly. That's why we decided to go with oils that are formulated specifically for use in candles. We carefully select each oil and make sure they meet our high standards for safety and clean ingredients!

As we love to say, ingredients truly matter in the quality of a candle. Cheaper ingredients equals a cheaper candle. We use the highest quality ingredients in our products that are safer for you and your space! However, we have found that not only is it worth it for your health, but our candles typically last 2x longer than store-bought paraffin candles of the same size. So really, its better bang for your buck (and your health)!

Great question! Coconut wax is made from the meat of the coconut, and is the most sustainable option for natural wax available on the market today. And no, surprisingly, it does not smell like coconuts!
